Commentary:

I told you so.  Back on January 3, 2006, I predicted that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security will cut funding for NYC.  Back then, the DHS announced a change in the formula for doling out grant money to include consideration for natural disasters, i.e. the risk of a Katrina type event.  This change in formula will allow more cities to qualify, and increasing the possibility of a smaller piece of the pie for NYC.

Yesterday, the DHS issued a press release announcing the grants for year 2006.  NYC's take is $124.5 million, a steep drop of 40% from the previous year, according to an article in today's  New York Newsday.

Hey Congressman Peter King: any chance of appealing the DHS' decision?
