So what does the term "significant other" include? The Associated Press reported today that the annual reading of 9/11 names will be read this year by spouses and significant others.
Dictionary.com defines this term
as a person "who is important or influential in one's other." The
organizers are clearly looking to include people who were engaged to be
married as readers. And it'll be interesting to see if gay and
lesbian partners would be included as well.
