I gotta
hand it to Mike Bloomberg. The NYC Mayor is seeking a serious
challenge in his inauguration speech
yesterday: "to rid our streets of guns." The problem isn't
New
York. The problem is the gun running operations where guns
from
out-of-state end up in the hands of criminals in the city. In
my
view, to make a real dent in stopping the flow of guns we have to work
with the nearby states, and convince them to devote more resources to
taking guns out of gun runners' hands. You stop the source,
and
there'll be no flow to the city. Obviously this is easier
said
than done. You would need sting operations and undercover
infiltrations into these gun running networks. You would need
more vigilance at the state borders. In short more resources
that
the other states probably cannot afford.
