Americans join the Army for many reasons. Some are lured by
the college money. Some are seeking direction and discipline in their lives. Others out of patriotism. But
not many agree to do a second tour of duty in Iraq, as Army Spc. Marlon
Bustamente had done. Unfortunately, this Queens native died
in a roadside bombing last Wednesday, as reported
in New York Newsday. His experience in Iraq gave him optimism
that America is making a difference in Iraq, and agreed to a second
tour out of loyalty to his fellow soldiers.
Bustamente will be fondly remembered as a true patriot from Queens.
