It looks like a last minute showdown! The SEIU Local 32BJ
union is still negotiating a ontract with representatives of proper
owners. If no deal is reached, the building workers (doormen,
cleaners, porters) will walk off their jobs at midnite on Friday
morning. Residents would have to sign their own packages and
deliveries, and take out their trash themselves.
On the heels of a MTA workers union strike last winter, plus a one-day
walkout planned by illegal immigrants on May 1st, it's been an eventual
few months for the labor movement.
