Instead of offering an April Fool's Day joke like many other
webmasters are doing today, I think we're better off offering this
public service announcement: Hey New Yorkers! Your taxes are due
on April 18th!!! The reason
is that April 15 falls on a Saturday, a weekend, and IRS extends the
due date to the next business day, which is Monday the 17th.
However, April 17th is a holiday in Andover, MA, where New
York filers send their returns. Therefore, The next business day
for New York filers is April 18th. For procrastinators, this
means a weekend to work on their taxes.
